Hi Riverdale & Rotators members!
The registration for in-town teams for the Riverdale Do It On The Ice Bonspiel March 4-6 will open this Friday, February 11 at noon! This year’s theme, if you haven’t picked up on the hints, is “Thank You For Being A Friend – A Golden Time!” Which means, obviously, The Golden Girls.
For the first time, bonspiel registration will be entirely online. Since the process is different than in past years, please read carefully.
When registration opens, please complete the registration form and rank your preferred draw times (first, second and third choice). Before registration opens, the draw times and playoff information is available at that link as well.
As a reminder, draw times are:
Draw 1: 9:30 a.m. Friday, 1:00 p.m. Friday, 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
Draw 2: 11:15 a.m. Friday, 2:45 p.m. Friday, 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Draw 3: 6:00 p.m. Friday, 9:30 p.m. Friday, 2:15 p.m. Saturday.
Draw 4: 7:45 p.m. Friday, 9:00 a.m. Saturday, 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Your preferred draw time is not guaranteed. Whether you get your first choice of draw time will be prioritized by when payment is received. For example, if 14 teams choose Draw 4, the first 12 to send payment will be assigned to draw 4 regardless of the order their registrations were received. The remaining 2 would be given their second choice of draw time once they make payment, unless that draw time is full already, after which time they would be assigned their third choice, and so on.
Once payment is received, you will receive a confirmation of your draw time within 48 hours, so that you can plan any necessary time off.
Payments of $560/team can be sent to payments@gaycurl.ca. You are not considered registered until payment is received. If you are bringing a fifth player, it is an additional $140.
Extra-curricular bonspiel events (subject to change based on changing COVID restrictions) include a Thursday evening kick-off at Pegasus, Friday night Caftans and Cheesecake (come dressed in your best lanai chic, and yes, there will be cheesecake!), Saturday afternoon Shady Pines Bingo and free Eppic Ale, a Rusty Anchor Drag Show on Saturday night, and a banquet at the Courtyard Marriott and after party at Pegasus on Sunday. A note on COVID:
All curlers and volunteers for the bonspiel, whether from Ontario or not, must confirm they are fully vaccinated before entering the club. If you are a member of the Riverdale or Rotators league, or a Royals member, you have already proved your vaccination status to the Club and do not need to prove it again. If you are from outside the club, you must send your proof of vaccination with at least two doses before you can attend the bonspiel. You must also be ready to show proof of vaccination via government-issued QR code on request when at the club.
We will also be subject to public health guidelines as required. As we’ve seen, restrictions can change rapidly and unpredictably, so we’re dedicated to being as clear and communicative as possible leading up to and during the bonspiel. More information in this regard will be shared closer to the start of the bonspiel.
We’re looking forward to our first spiel in two years, and to the first spiel held at the Royal Canadian Curling Club since our last spiel in March 2020!
